Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Garden City Public Library, primarily through fundraising. Funds raised by the Friends of the Library are given to the library, allowing them to purchase more materials to benefit the community. The Friends also manage the Book Nook, a used book emporium located on the east side of the library by the computer lab.
Volunteers are an integral part of The Friends organization. Every year, community members who are passionate about supporting the library review donations received, prepare donations for resale at regular book sales, research books for resale on Amazon, pack and process online sales, run book sale and Book Nook registers, maintain accurate documentation for the organization, prepare marketing materials, and more.
